Should a job application ask candidates for a photo?
Asking for a photo on an application invites race, national-origin, age and sex discrimination claims, because it reveals traits you cannot consider. Do not request one before hiring.
A photo signals protected characteristics that have nothing to do with the job. If a rejected applicant later claims bias, a requested photo is hard to defend.
You do not need an image to evaluate a candidate. Leave it out of the application entirely and judge the qualifications.
